Winter, at walking pace

Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are the quietest ways to travel a mountain in winter. No lifts, no queues, no engine noise — just a marked track through the forest, or a set of snowshoes and a plateau nobody has crossed since the last snowfall.

Grand Angle has organised active trips since 1983, from a base in the Vercors regional park. Our winter programme covers the Vercors, the Jura, the Queyras, the high plateaux of the Alps, and further afield in Scandinavia.

What we offer

Nordic skiing — classic and skating, from first tracks for beginners to multi-day traverses between mountain huts. Snowshoeing — day walks from a comfortable base, or hut-to-hut itineraries for those who want to sleep at altitude.

Most trips are self-guided: we book the accommodation, plan the stages, transfer the luggage and provide route notes. Guided departures with a accompagnateur en montagne run on the more committing itineraries.

This site presents the winter programme. Browsing and booking happen on our main sitegrandangletours.com, where the full catalogue, dates and prices live.
